Benedict Talks 2.8 - The music the Vatican tried to keep secret
Просмотров 1,2 тыс.3 года назад
"Miserere Mei, Deus" by Gregorio Allegri was a piece of music so treasured by the Vatican that only those in the Sistine Chapel during Holy Week would ever be able to hear it. That was, until a couple of familiar characters came along... Even then, things didn't quite go to plan.
Benedict Talks 2.7 - Which is my good side?
Просмотров 2143 года назад
You hear it all the time - "Get my good side!" But which is it and what does that mean?
Benedict Talks 2.6 - Remembrance Day
Просмотров 2543 года назад
This is about why we wear poppies, why the date of Remembrance Day is 11th November, and why we use certain words and music to commemorate the day.
Benedict Talks 2.5 - Predicting the future

Benedict Talks 2.3 - The Bearded Female Saint
Просмотров 5123 года назад
St Wilgefortis was a saint, was a woman, and had a beard. But where did her story come from? (It was all a comical case of mistaken identity.)
Benedict Talks 2.2 - Eye words
Просмотров 2153 года назад
The words used to describe parts of the eye are surprisingly interesting, and there is a connection between eyes and ice-cream. And croissants.
Benedict Talks 2.1 - Rainbows
Просмотров 2643 года назад
How many colours are in the rainbow? Seven? Probably not. WARNING: Contains Dad jokes!
Benedict Talks 1.8 - We all make mistakes
Просмотров 2834 года назад

Benedict Talks 1.5 - The Gloucestershire Gorilla

Benedict Talks 1.4 - The Monty Hall Problem clearly explained
Просмотров 6314 года назад
The Monty Hall Problem stumped people for years. Here, I explain it clearly and simply. WARNING: There is gratuitous amounts of pretending to be on a 70s American TV game show. The accents are a bit... well... you know.

    How many people work on the programme? Well as it's the BBC the answer is 'far too many'. If it was ITV the answer would be ' about half of them'.

    I’ve been doing this for a long time. I use a stick which is adjustable instead of my thumb. You don’t need to measure if you just want to know the reach of falling tree.

    Omg. looking as your ass to measure a tree. I cruised timber, many years. I did not look at my bottom to measure a tree.

  • @wompol7117
    @wompol7117 Год назад

    i taught my kids to do this using a mirror on the ground - put the mirror where they can look straight down yet see the top of the tree i’m the middle of the mirror. due to reflective angles that will make the 45 degree angle

  • @jim2376
    @jim2376 Год назад

    Does the tree have a shadow? Plug in measurements: your height/length of your shadow = unknown height of tree/length of tree's shadow. Cross multiple. Your height x length of tree's shadow = unknown height of tree x length of your shadow. E.g. 6 feet/15 feet = unknown height of tree/75 feet. 6 x 75 = unknown height of tree x 15. Solve equation. 450/15 = height of tree = 30 feet. A method based on proportionality. The method in the video has 2 advantages over the above method: (1) no shadows needed, and (2) no measurements needed, although pacing would roughly suffice.

    So, basically, we don't even need to really worry how to imagine a Tesseract in it's complete 4D shape, when we could just work with the unfolded 3D version of it. Way easier to visualize the concept!

      @V4lh Год назад

      the human brain can't even process the Tesseract, basically your mind will blow, but what if we could've used it instead of see it..
